She is also author of a work of fiction, The Loser Letters: A Comic Tale of Life, Death, and Atheism (2010), that was adapted for stage, and premiered at The Catholic University of America in 2017 – an experience that will help to bring Stage Two of this Project to theatrical, as well as literary, life.

Mary Eberstadt has twice been awarded honorary doctorates in humane letters (Seton Hall University, 2014; Magdalen College, NH, 2022). For more information on her career, public appearances, etc., see maryeberstadt.com. Project Director Eberstadt’s rural, blue-collar background, combined with her intellectual stature, render her uniquely suited for directing this Project; and enthusiasm for “Remembering Upstate New York” runs high across all members of the Leatherstocking Team.

A leading American thinker, called by Francis Fukuyama “one of the most creative social observers of our time” and the late Cardinal George Pell of Australia “perhaps the most perceptive” of any contemporary writer, Author and Project Director Mary Eberstadt is well-known both nationally and internationally, and has access to many publications and media venues both inside and outside the U.S.
